Jina

Jina
Yes, I spelled it that way on purpose;)  Jina is an 11 year old beauty, with thick black hair and a charming smile. She has waited far too long for the family she deserves! Jina has had surgery for patent ductus arteriosis (PDA), and is also deaf-mute. Three strikes against her, but she is FAR from out!! Jina has learned some sign language, and has NO difficulty communicating with her caregivers and friends. She is described by teachers as "gifted", often receiving 99 out of 100 points in school!! Wow! Jina has acted in school plays, and was said to really stand out because of her "postures" being "active and cute". Sounds like a ham!! Jina also loves to draw, and shares "the ideas of her inner heart" through her artwork. What a girl!

Please tell me there is a family out there for Jina!! She doesn't have much time left, and she would make a wonderful daughter!

Ralphie

Ralphie

When I opened Ralphie's file, I immediately recognized his baby pictures. Those *adorable* baby pictures!!! What a handsome fella Ralphie is!! I have advocated for him in the past, although for the life of me I can't remember what I called him back then (Mommy-Brain!). So now he is Ralphie, b/c it sounds closest to his Chinese name;)
Ralphie recently turned 7 years old, and has had surgery for cataracts in both eyes. He also has bilateral nystagmus, left eye strabismus, and an inguinal hernia that must have been repaired, because there is no mention of it other than initally. Ralphie has limited vision, but he can see and follow objects with both eyes. He can run, jump, climb stairs and play like other children. He can dress himself and feed himself. Ralphie is described as a "lovely boy", and he just loves his foster mother. He prefers to spend time with her and help her do housework.

Now I *know* there is a Mama out there who needs a young man to help her with chores!! Anyone?

Wonderful Wayne

Wayne

Seven year old Wayne has a smile as bright as the sun!! He is described as having mild cerebral palsy and mildly crossed-eyes, and is currently in the orphanage's preschool class. Wayne can walk and go up and down stairs independently. He gets along well with other children, and is a happy boy. His favorite toys are toy cars and guns.....yep, all boy!! Wayne also loves to watch cartoons and play with his friends at the orpahange.
Surely there is a family out there looking for a wonderful boy like Wayne!!

Darling Darby

Darby

Sweet Darby is almost 8 years old, and still waiting for her forever family to find her. Darby was found at around 16 months old, and was found to have weakness in her right side and "slightly low intelligence". Whatever that means in a toddler....
Darby surprised the orphanage staff by settling in to life there without any problems. She is now in a foster family, and doing very well. Darby loves cartoons, and gets very excited and animated when they come on the tv. She also loves music, and listening to her teachers tell stories. She is described as "the teacher's little helper", and is loved by everyone.

January's Journey

January

January is almost 2 years old. She was found on her birthday, and she has been diagnosed with under-development of the eyes. According to her file, however, January CAN see. At around 6 months old, she liked to steal the blankets off of her crib mates;) She is said to be at the same cognitive and developmental age as her peers. January is said to be a healthy, chubby little baby:) She is active, curious, and taking steps on her own. She is also babbling alot:)

Where will January's journey take her next?? Maybe into your family? Comment below with your email for more info on this amazing little girl!

Kane Can!!

Five year old Kane may be blind, but he can do many things. His file is old, but at only 18 months old, he could walk with a walker. He can play with toys that make music. He can, and does, keep his caregivers on their toes! Kane is described as "very smart", and is said to have much more sensitive hearing than the other children. He is very healthy, and very rarely gets sick. Kane has a condition known as micropthalmia. But it doesn't stop him. He CAN do anything he puts his mind to. Are his parents reading this? If so, leave a comment with your email and I'll fill you in some more:)

Cutie-Pie Courtney

**Update: Courtney is now designated with Bay Area Adoption Services**
Three year old Courtney is looking for her Mommy and Daddy. Is it you??
Courtney has a large hemangioma on her neck and chest. She is mildly delayed in comparison to other children her age. A head CT was completely normal, but she did have a sinus infection the day the scan was done. There is also the possibility that Courtney has Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome, although I don't see an official diagnosis in her file. Courtney is an adorable girl, with chubby cheeks and lots of thick black hair! She loves to play with toys, and likes to hold a mirror up to see the toy from all angles. If another child tries to take her toy, she will hold the toy up as *high* as she can and yell for her caregiver to come help!

Brilliant Ben

Ben

I have been advocating for little Ben for years now. He is approaching his 8th birthday next month, and as the years pass so do his chances at having a family of his own. Ben was born with cataracts that have been removed. His doctors do recommend at least one follow-up surgery in the future. He sees very well, and loves to skateboard in the park and play with toy guns. Ben is all BOY!! He is described as talkative and outgoing, he loves to eat (LOL!), read, and play games. When he was 4 years old, his nannies say this:
He can walk without help well and go up and down stairs alone. He can eat, put on clothes, buckle buttons and put on socks without help. He understands hot, cold, hungry, tired and he washes his hands when they get dirty.
Ben is a HEALTHY boy, with the potential to live a completely happy, normal life. He just needs his family:)
If you want to know more about Ben, comment with your email address and I will get back with you.

~*Sweet Susan*~

Susan has a special story, and a special name to go with it. She was found outside of a yarn factory in 2002 at just one week old. The woman who found her became her foster mother. Susan lived with her foster family for nearly 5 years. In 2007, she was taken to the local orphanage...probably because of her diagnosis. Susan has Trisomy 21, or Downs Syndrome. The orphanage named Susan after her foster mother, the only mother she had ever known.
Susan has big, beautiful chocolate brown eyes and fair skin. She is described as having a ready smile and fond of playing with other children. Susan likes plush toys and playing outside.

A Chance For Chance

Chance

Five year old Chance needs just that-- a chance. He was found with a birth note giving his exact time and date of birth. Chance was found to have "double nystagmus" and a cataract in his right eye. A recent update on Chance describes him as gentle, eager to try new things, and even-tempered. Chance loves music, and likes to play with the electric organ at the orphanage. While his vision is quite impaired, Chance can walk up and down stairs unassisted and put on and take off his clothing with help. He is learning how to cut with scissors, and he can feed himself well.

Welcome To The Red Thread Kids Blog!!

Hi and Welcome!
I have switched from my Red Thread Kids website to a blog format, simply because I won't be posting the volume of pictures that I did before. And hopefully, this blog will reach more people than the website did. Be sure to bookmark this page and share the blog link with friends and family!!
I am working closely with an adoption agency, as well as a few contacts in China to bring you as much information on the shared list children as I can. Now more than ever before, these kids need our help to find their families. The CCCWA has informed agencies that they may post only the pictures of their designated children on their websites. That leaves the children on the shared list without a voice. Let's be their voices!
*Please comment under the blog posts of the children you are interested in. Leave your email address and let me know whether you are signed on with an agency or not. If you ARE, I will send you the info you need for your agency rep to get the child's file. If you AREN'T, I will put you in touch with an agency rep who can help you get started:)
